🗓️Tuesday September 5th, 2023
🕤18:00 - 21:00

Museum of Impossible Forms is honoured to present in Helsinki the work of @farcryproductionsltd , an arts/politics company run by Gerard Mannix Flynn, Maedhbh McMahon and Susan Bergin. Since its inception in 2002, Farcry Productions have created theatre works, performance, large- scale art installations, documentary film, and literature that invites people to explore, meditate on and question subject matter that, to date, may have been ignored or considered taboo.

For over a decade the company engaged with making public the hidden history of Ireland’s residential institutions of incarceration such as Magdalen Laundries, Industrial Schools, Psychiatric hospitals, Mother and Baby homes. Two sites were chosen, Essex Street West in Temple Bar and Leeson Street Lower in the city centre of Dublin, giving the citizens of the city the opportunity to view their hidden history without filters. The company are currently working on a documentary “Nobody Could Hear The Music” the history of the Artane Boys Band one of the most world renowned marching bands that was conceived in Artane Industrial School, Dublin and is still operating to this day.

In the presentation Gerard Mannix Flynn will take us on a journey that weaves his personal history, the history of Farcry, and the unspoken history of Ireland, proposing the arts as means to give testimony, challenge and heal.

Warmly welcome!
