We are delighted to invite you to an evening of radical imagination, collective care, and transformative dialogue, celebrating the launch of Trans Femme Futures: abolitionist ethics for transfeminist worlds (Pluto Press 2024) — a book that weaves visions of collective liberation, mutual care, and revolutionary action. Through a conversation with the authors, Nat Raha and Mijke van der Drift, moderated by Mia Wennerstrand, we will explore how transfeminist practices can envision and enact liberatory futures.
Described by scholar Jordy Rosenberg as “a brilliant, useful, and immensely moving book that deals a critical blow to the epistemic austerity of our times,” Trans Femme Futures builds upon experiences of transformation, belonging and harm, offering a transfeminist call for collective liberation. It envisions the future through everyday actions that revolutionise our lives, while grappling with struggles around trans healthcare, the need for collectives over institutions, the importance of mutual care, and transfeminism as abolition. The authors show how social change can be achieved through transformative practices that allow queer life to thrive in a time of climate, health, political and economic crises.
During the event there will be books for sale as well as a selection of books from Trans Library Helsinki.
